General 2D Artist - Santander Scholarship Employability Scheme Signpost International

I was given the opportunity to work on a game project with the theme ’Harnessing the Power of Games and Animation for Good’ to bring awareness to food poverty within our local area of Dundee. My responsibilities included creating all the vector art, animations, UI and graphic design for the game.

Game Development:
Tales of Solarity

November 2023 - Current

This game is currently in development! It is also a personal project I am working on with my partner! Tales of Solarity is a 3D fantasy adventure cosy fetch quest game. Meet cute & friendly characters within a relaxing solar punk inspired world. Much of the art style will be inspired by whimsical themes to create a magical and calming atmosphere. The game will consist of one main hub area to explore! The art in the game will use a combination of 2D and 3D visuals to add depth within this explorable world. The player will be be given quests via NPC interactions to collect specific items. Use magic to find and obtain these collectables. Once the NPCs quest is complete your friendship level will increase! Keep your friendship level up to earn a special badge!

Game Development:
Shadow Play

June 2023 - September 2023

This section shows the 2D art development and contribution that I made towards a student game called 'Shadow Play'. The professional client for this game is 'Sumo Digital'! 'Sumo Digital' requested for us to produce a game that uses the feature of synchronicity. The game is a single-player, Action Puzzler game in a isometric perspective. You summon clones to complete puzzles, and these clones must move in sync with each other for you to succeed! This section includes character art, environment art, UI assets, graphic design as well as the final polished assets.

Game Development:

Aberdeen Music Hall - Cycle 15 - New Media Scotland

January 2023 - May 2023

This section displays the 2D artwork designed for a 4.5m interactive display that is located at the Music Hall in Aberdeen.  I helped aid the production of the project as well as create a variety of 2D concepts, iterations and developments that helped towards the creation of the final game build.

The experience was requested to be interactive, infinite as well as being visually impactful towards the player. Therefore, I explored different shapes and colours to create the best contrast between the two images. The game itself is a beat game that can be played through a mobile device. The theme of the artwork is the music hall, doorways, architecture, and environments!

This was a great experience despite the work developed through this project not being displayed on site.

Game Development:
GhostWood

September 2022 - January 2023

This section shows the 2D art development and contribution that I made towards a student game called 'GhostWood'. The game is a single-player, side scroller puzzle game with narrative elements.  You play as a young medium who is tasked to solve narrative puzzles to help ghosts move on to the afterlife and reach their 'forever home'. This section includes character art, UI,  and graphic design assets.

Game Development:
Demon Tails

September 2021 - September 2022

This project is connected to a research dissertation that explores the appeal that neurodiverse individuals have towards interacting with role-playing games. Through the developmental process of making a visual novel game, topics such as narrative design and character stereotypes were studied. This helped provide new representation through a diverse group of characters and to show the benefits of RPG's such as building social skills, relationships and allowing creative freedom within a safe community. Within this game, you Play as young Demon Girl called Puck who is becomes interested in learning about the magical qualities/mysterious of her land.  You seek out an angelic being called Raziel who an entity that holds a vast knowledge of their land. He provides two options to explore. These include the options of Magic & Spellcasting and Plants & Fungi. Each of these quests lead you to a new NPC that will educate you about their specific ability and expertise.

Game Development:

The game is a single-player, fast paced 3D action platformer which challenges you to run through different levels using quick movement controls and collectables. Below displays examples of the 2D work I contributed towards the game build. It  includes character concept art, environment concept art, UI design and Branding. Some inspirations include games such as Geometry Dash, No Straight Roads, and Sonic.
